STATE POLICE ASSIGN 28 NEW TROOPERS TO HIGHWAY PATROL DUTIES ACROSS ARKANSAS

December 17, 2009 (LITTLE ROCK) – Twenty-eight Arkansas State Police Trooper Recruits graduated tonight during ceremonies at the Arkansas State Capitol. The recruits received the Oath of Commission from the Honorable John R. Lineberger, Judge (Ret.), Arkansas 4th Circuit. The recruit class initially reported for duty on August 23rd and each class member has accumulated 1,011 hours of classroom studies and practical training. The recruits are eligible for 41 college credit hours toward a Criminal Justice degree from Black River Technical College at Pocahontas. Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe was the keynote speaker addressing the graduates and Colonel Winford E. Phillips, Director of the Arkansas State Police, presented the new troopers their commissions. Other dignitaries also present included representatives of the Arkansas State Police Commissioners. Graduates of the 2009 class are: • Thomas S. Hubbard, 48, of West Memphis, who served as Class Leader, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop D, Crittenden County. Recruit Hubbard is a graduate of Fairley High School, Memphis, Tennessee. • Shane Alkire, 21, of Sheridan, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop L, Carroll County. Recruit Alkire is a graduate of Sheridan High School. • Andrew Ault, 23, of Jessieville (Garland County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop H, Logan County. Recruit Ault is a graduate of Jessieville High School and Arkansas Tech University. • Brandon C. Bennett, 26, of Blytheville, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop C, Mississippi County. Recruit Bennett is a graduate of Blytheville High School, Three Rivers community college (Poplar Bluff, Missouri) and Arkansas State University. • Josh Berry, 22, of Conway, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Troop Division, Troop D, Phillips County. Recruit Berry is a graduate of Vilonia High School. • Derek Byrd, 31, of Lake Village, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop F, Chicot County. Recruit Byrd is a graduate of Lake Village High School. • Brandon M. Chandler, 22, of Pocahontas, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop E, Arkansas County. Recruit Chandler is a certified home school graduate. • Angela Dawn DeWitt, 36, of Pangburn (White County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop I, Izard County. Recruit DeWitt is a graduate of Wynne High School. • Glendon V. Flowers, Jr., 32, of Texarkana, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop G, Nevada County. Recruit Flowers is a graduate of Hope High School. • Mason Glasgow, 22, of Newhope (Pike County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop G, Little River County. Recruit Glasgow is a graduate of Dierks (Howard County) High School. • Cordero L. Gray, 22, of Wynne, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop D, Lee County. Recruit Gray is a graduate of Wynne High School and the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville). • Dwight N. Griffith, 23, of Newport, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop D, Phillips County. Recruit Griffith is a graduate of Bradford (White County) High School. • David Hamilton, 32, of Hope, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop G, Nevada County. Recruit Hamilton is a graduate of Hope High School. • Benjamin Hoyt, 28, of Adona (Perry County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop A, Pulaski County. Recruit Hoyt is a graduate of Conway High School and University of Central Arkansas. • Greg Lingar, 41, of Russellville, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop L, Washington County. Recruit Lingar is a graduate of Russellville High School and Community College of the Air Force. • Brandon M. Lofton, 26, of Little Rock, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop A, Pulaski County. Recruit Lofton is a graduate of J.A. Fair High School (Little Rock). • Crystal Marlin, 28, of Beebe, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop K, Grant County. Recruit Marlin is a graduate of Carlisle High School. • Shawn R. Mason, 30, of Bald Knob, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop E, Arkansas County. Recruit Mason is a graduate of Shirley (Van Buren County) High School and Southern Arkansas University. • Roy Moomey, 35, of Maumelle, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop H, Crawford County. Recruit Moomey is a graduate of Catholic High School (Little Rock) and University of Mississippi (Oxford). • Clint Mullinix, 28, of El Dorado, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop F, Ouachita County. Recruit Mullinix is a graduate of Harmony Grove (Ouachita County) High School. • Justin G. Nowlin, 25, of Mountain Home, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop L, Washington County. Recruit Nowlin is a graduate of Mountain Home High School and University of Arkansas. • Corey W. Ray, 23, of Hot Springs, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop H, Scott County. Recruit Ray is a graduate of Jessieville (Garland County) High School and Arkansas Tech University. • Frank D. Remick, 33, of Bearden (Ouachita County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop F, Cleveland County. Recruit Remick is a graduate of Bearden High School. • Richard Scott, 38, of Little Rock, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop E, Jefferson County. Recruit Scott is a graduate of Central High School and Kansas University (Lawrence). • Craig Teague, 25, of Jonesboro, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop C, Mississippi County. Recruit Teague is a graduate of Hope High School, University of Arkansas at Little Rock (BA undergraduate) Arkansas State University (MPA graduate). • Dustin J. Thompson, 24, of Pine Bluff, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop E, Jefferson County. Recruit Thompson is a graduate of Watson Chapel (Jefferson County) High School. • Matthew L. Toon, 22, of Greenbrier, will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop I, Searcy County. Recruit Toon is a graduate of Greenbrier (Faulkner County) High School and Arkansas State University (Beebe). • Kurt Ziegenhorn, 39, of McCrory (Woodruff County), will be assigned to Highway Patrol Division, Troop D, Monroe County. Recruit Ziegenhorn is a graduate of McCrory High School and Louisiana Tech University. Nowlin Upon reporting for duty at their respective troop headquarters, the new troopers will be placed with a certified departmental Field Training Officer (FTO). Each graduate will work in tandem with their assigned FTO for a six to eight week transitional period, then return to the State Police Training Academy for additional training before being released for duty within their respective counties of assignment.
