STATE POLICE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES IN OVERNIGHT OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

   A state police investigation of an overnight officer involved shooting incident in Russellville is continuing today.  The investigation will be submitted to the Pope County Prosecuting Attorney to determine if the shooting was consistent with Arkansas laws, specifically the use of deadly force by a law enforcement officer.

  Joshua Cartwright, 36, of Russellville exited an apartment about 2:10 AM today brandishing a gun and was shot by state troopers assigned to the Arkansas State Police SWAT Team.  Cartwright was pronounced dead at the scene.

  Additional information relating to the initial involvement of local police that lead to the SWAT team responding to the apartment can be obtained from a news release distributed earlier today by the Russellville Police Department.
